Cream Pies

Bake crust first.

  • 1/3 cup flour
  • 2/3 cup sugar
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups milk
  • 3 well beaten egg yolks
  • 1 Tablespoon butter or margerine
  • ½ teaspoon WATKINS vanilla

Sift dry ingredients together in heavy pan or skillet. Over low heat, gradually blend in, and stir constantly, 2 cups milk. When mixture begins to thicken, spoon out 3 Tablespoons of hot mixture into 3 well beaten egg yolks. When blended, return to skillet and cook until thick. Remove from ehat, and add 1 Tablespoon butter, and ½ ts. Watkins vanilla -- any other kind, use 1.

For COCONUT cream, stir 1 cup coconut into hot mixture.

For BANANA cream, line crust with sliced bananas pour in filling, and top with another layer of bananas.

For CHOCOLATE pie use 1 cup sugar, and ¼ cup cocoa.

For PINEAPPLE cream, use only 1 ¾ cups milk, and add 1 cup crushed pineapple.

Which-ever flavor you choose, pour into baked crust, and top with meringue.
